Report from meetings
- SLM and general information -> MG
Welcome for Kyrre Sjobaek, who currently finishes his thesis related to CLIC-RF. He will officially start in our group as fellow on the 1st October, to work with Helmut, Andrea et al. on HL-LHC WP8 including crab cavity transient simulations.
Massimo said that power convertors are reviewed for HL-LHC. One goal is to determine the ramp down speed for the most relevant seetings and see if there are upgrade possibilities to reduce the rather slow magnet rampdown.
John and Riccardo work with a summer student on the optics pages, as will be presented in one of the next meetings.
Work and discussions continue on the options (minimal, intermediate or maximum ATS compatible) for post LS1 operation.
There are ideas for electron cloud monitoring in quadrupoles with possible tests in the SPS.
The PS has resumed operation for physics.
Riccardo, Miriam et al. are working on the analysis of tracking data and how the data can be stored and analyzed for dynamic aperture.
Massimo is following up on as-built sequences, based on information from the LHC database. The official database release for RUN 2 maybe come rather late, after approval of all ECRs. We may have to go for an intermediate almost final version for our checks.
- Collimation-> SR
There has been a lot of work related to collimators for the HL-LHC upgrade reports and functional specifications.
The work in the tunnel and preparation for LHC RUN 2 is well advanced.
On the simulation side there has been a lot of work related to SixTrack. This triggered some discussion on the multiplication of extended SixTrack versions.
It was agreed that generally useful extensions should become part of the main, generally supported official SixTrack version.
A review of requests and plans for MAD-X and SixTrack is planned for the
next section meeting.
- MAD-X status -> GR
Ghislain said that a new release was made available recently.
Following the request by Riccardo et al, makethin was upgraded by Helmut to transmit extra attribute related to aperture, and a fix implemented by Ghislain to keep sequences by default circular. Ghislain reminded that MAD-X operates on sequences, and that support for structured lines is limited.
Documentation is now all in LaTeX. The next step is to automatically generated from this web pages.
- MAD-X online model -> PS
Piotr said that the aperture meter application is being re-implemented. Tests are limited since the control system is not yet operational.
Tobias works on snapshots to be able to conveniently save and retrieve machine settings.
