Presents: CB, HB, WH,
MG, JBJ, AK, RdM, GRdM, SR, TR, TW, FZ
- Follow-up of actions from previous
meetings
- Transfer shift of interaction point in IR2 -> JJ (pdf
file)
- A solution to increase the aperture in
IR2 is presented: it entails the vertical displacement of the IP by 1 mm. This reduces slightly the beam-beam separation. To be
checked:
- Possibility of increasing the crossing
angle to restore nominal separation (JJ).
- Checking the the impact of the reduced
beam-beam separation (WH).
- Recent progress in the high-beta optics for IP1 and IP5
-> HB (pdf file)
- Concerning the 90 m optics for TOTEM in
IR5:
- Beam 2 optics is available now.
- Both Beam 1 and Beam 2 optics were
re-matched to have nominal tune in collision. In the vertical plane the tune
is correct, while in the horizontal one 0.08 units are still missing. This
should be compensated using other means (IR4, arcs).
- Report from meetings
- MEB ->
MG
- Activities
progress according to the schedule.
- WAMDO Workshop -> RdM (pdf
file)
- Review of the
current activities in the field of LHC upgrade (IR layout) and magnet
design (materials and magnet cross-section).
- TCC -> MG
- SLM -> MG
- No sector test
is foreseen for 2006
- A new magnet
performance panel is being set-up in AT. A. Siemko will be the Chairman.
-
New implementation of the nonlinear matching in MAD-X ->
RdM (pdf file)
-
The new mode is based on the idea that:
- The constraints can be user-defined expressions
- The calculations for evaluating these expressions can be defined via macros
- In this way everything that can be calculated via macros and expressions can be used for
matching:
- Solution for linear or non linear system of equations
- Chromatic and non linear effects.
- The new matching will be part of the next
release of MADX.
-
Hysteresis effects for insertion quadrupoles -> MG (pdf
file)
- Thanks to a special version of the error
routines provided by SF the hysteresis effects can now be included in the
simulations.
- Critical cases: MQM-like and MQY
quadrupoles (low powering at injection).
- Minimum DA is now at 10.2 sigma.
