Present: MG, WH, BJ, RdM, YP, TR, FS, TW
- Report from meetings
- MEB -> MG
- The issue with the
geometry of MQTL was investigated. Possible
explanation is the presence of araldite ball in
the aperture.
- YP mentioned that a
request for absorbing 6 SSS with repaired electrical problems was sent
by Michele Modena. It will be checked on a magnet-to-magnet basis, and MEB will give its approval.
- TCC -> BJ
- There was a discussion
on planning and L. Evans presented the option for commissioning at
450GeV (hardware
commissioning in only one octant).
- New installation schedule was presented by S. Weisz.
- SLM -> MG
- The internal deadline
for submitting EPAC papers to Oliver was
last Friday. MG will have
a look at the papers if the deadline is not met.
- LHC-MAC -> MG
- Presentations on LEIR commissioning
(C.Carli),
collimation (Ralph) and RF.
- Closed session presentations on recent results of DA
studies (MG), flat
beam option (SF),
but committee mostly interested in technical aspects of LHC (QRL, installation,
DFB etc.).
- Update on the status of the optics database ->
TR
- A detailed analysis of the
V6.5 and V6.500 error routines was performed and a number of bugs corrected.
- A bug was found
assigning wrong aperture to SpSSS that are rotated at
installation.
- RdM found also
some bugs on polarity.
- MG will test the
routines
for the measured errors and proceed with the data production.
- TR mentioned that
he found a potential issue with the option ADD in the error routines when mixing statistical with measured
errors. WH will check.
- Discussion of new LHC commissioning scenario ->
MG (pdf
file)
- Installation completed by
end of
2007 with minimum hardware
commissioning.
- Commissioning
with collisions at 450 GeV (calibration run, no physics) followed by
3-4 months of shut down.
- The option will
need no crossing
angle and number of bunches limited to 156 (10^30 luminosity).
- The conditions
are: no
magnetic cycles, IR1/5 partially squeezed, IR2/8 at injection settings.
- Optics: minimum
β* possible (>4m), new optics powering issues (SF).
- DA (triplets at
injection) and use of correctors (MG).
- Beam-beam effects:
injection tune, transient behaviour when injecting Beam2, separation,
spectrometers (WH).
- Feedback from all
LOC members is needed.
- The option will
be discussed during an LTC meeting on
July 5th and thus a LOC meeting will take place also next week to
discuss the progress.
- YP asked about
the possibility to have a 1 TeV run option. MG replied that this is not
clear (degaussing
cycle only or collisions as well).
