Presents: GB, CB, HB, MG, JJ, AK, TR, FS, TW.
- Report from meetings
- Forthcoming
ICAP06 Conference -> FS
- A special arrangement was made for CERN
staff so to register on a daily basis.
- SLM -> MG
- PAC07: requests for attending the
Conference should be sent to MG well before the deadline of abstract
submission.
- A general Group meeting will be held
on September 28th. A presentation of the various sections is scheduled.
- Restructuring of AT Department is in
progress. MAS and CRI will become a single Group.
- New CVS structure of optics files -> FS (pdf
file)
- The decision was taken to gather all the
optics flies of most CERN machines and transfer lines in a structured CVS
repository.
- Responsible people were appointed
for each machine: TR is responsible for LHC and its injection lines. These
people are supposed to commit the changes to the files with the appropriate
documentation.
- The overall structure will be parallel to
the usual one under, e.g., afs.
- Optics studies for IR3 and IR7 -> TR (pdf
file)
- The studies for a new optical
configuration of IR3/7 are progressing: sizeable improvement in the n1 for
both beams was achieved. The re-matching affects only the part between
Q13-Q6 left and right of the IP. A detailed analysis of the improvement
taking also into account the data from the installed magnet should be
performed (Action: MG).
- Bottlenecks in IR2 and IR8 were also
identified and possible solutions found. In this case the constraints from
the injection should be carefully checked as well those from the protection
devices (Action: HB).
- AOB
- HB reports about discussions on high-beta
optics for ATLAS. He was in contact with Angeles during the summer time. He
highlighted that some information is still missing, e.g., Beam 2 optics.
- MG reports about a follow-up for LTC
concerning the optics for the so-called Pilot Ion Run. JJ proposed to use
exactly the same configuration as for protons. It seems that no action is
required from the optics team, as the optics files for the squeeze foresee a
setting for the triplets at top energy with injection beta at about 205 T/m
(IR8) and 208 T/m (IR2) instead of about 220 T/m for the injection optics.
It is recalled that for the low luminosity insertions the nominal value of
205 T/m can be exceed at top energy.
