Presents: RA, CB, HB,
RDM, SF, MG, JBJ, JJ, AK, AL, TR, SR, AV
- Follow-up of actions from previous meetings
- Field errors for triplet magnets -> FS
- In the absence of FS
(sick), MG reports that data collection is still in progress. In particular,
the geometrical data is still missing. A complete and certified set of data
including FQ and geometry is expected by the end of the week.
- Report from meetings
- TCC -> JBJ (pdf
file)
- Problems with the
QRL modules in sector 8-1 are reported.
- Installation of
sector 7-8 is late by about 4 weeks.
- Installation of
sector 8-1 is late by 6 weeks. This will have impact on installation of
sector 3-4, but not on 4-5 (installation should start by end of July).
- The installation
order will not be changed to reduce delays.
- R. Ostojic
reported about LSSL8 installation (pdf file)
- Q1-Q3 are already
late
- Q5, Q6 should be
installed by October and approved by MEB by beginning of August.
-
New Doctoral student in Collimation Team
-> RA
- Chiara Bracco (CB)
joined the Collimation team on June 1st. She will work on loss studies, halo
dynamics.
- A fellow should join
the team by September 1st.
-
Risk registry for the AB-ABP-LOC activities -> OB
(pdf file)
- In the absence of OB
(course) MG presents the proposal prepared by OB.
- Criteria for
defining the risk are provided: the inventory was defined by OB.
- The enquiry is
CERN-wide and should be aimed at defining strategies to cope with high-risk
activities (more resources).
- Following the
discussion modifications were made to the original proposal: the revised
version will be sent to OB and JPR to be discussed at the SLM and then
transmitted to the AB-DL.
- Highlights from PAC05  -> HB,
SR (pdf file)
- Difficult to attend the many events in
parallel (1300 participants, 3 oral sessions in parallel, posters sessions in
parallel with oral ones).
- Strong emphasis on ILC activities.
- Good general talks (Monday and Friday).
- Relevant studies for LHC activities:
- Post-irradiation properties of candidate
materials for high power targets.
- Collimation studies at the Japan Proton
Accelerator Complex.
- Ion energy deposition studies at GSI.
- Nonlinear optics corrections at RHIC.
- Effect of b5 spool pieces failure on
DA
-> FS
- In the absence of FS
(sick) this topic is reported to a forthcoming meeting.
- Status of LHC V6.5 MAD model ->
TR
- Error routines for
the official version V6.5 have been developed and cross-checked.
- Error routines for
assigning measured errors are available for cold D1 separation dipoles and D2.
In this case the measured FQ is assigned to the allocated slot. A test case to
assign measured errors to main dipoles is also available. These routines
should serve as small-scale test for the future mechanism of assignment of
magnetic errors extracted form the official database.
- The available error
routines are for beam 1
- The issue of
generating a beam 2 model is being considered. A time-scale for its
development will be prepared and presented in a next meeting.
- Tracking with MADX -> AK (pdf
file)
- A detailed analysis
of the physics in the MADX tracking module was performed and presented at the
last
MADX meeting.
- Inconsistencies were
found (mixing of different variables and mixing of different approximations).
- A similar situation
is found also for the Twiss module.
- Thus analysis will
allow defining the better strategy to correct the situation within the tight
boundary conditions of available resources.
- Such a strategy will
be presented in a forthcoming meeting.
- AOB
- Requests from Experiments for
special optical solutions -> MG
- A meeting between
D. Macina TR and MG was held: the Experiments would like to have an optical
solution with beta*=2 m in IR1/5/8 and nominal in IR2.
- The optics are
ready, but the crossing scheme is missing
- WH provided the
guidelines to choose the crossing angle vs. beta*: the
beam separation constant, i.e. scale as 1/Sqrt(beta*) so to have a beam
separation in the triplet of 11 sigma.
- Once ready, the
optical configuration will be stored in the web database.
- Cancellation of Journals -> MG
- The proposal made by SCIB
and circulated by OB should be commented: feedback should be sent to MG by
Friday.
- New tolerances for SSS in the
dispersion suppressor -> JBJ (pdf file)
- Special tolerances for SSS in DS are ready: they
will be presented at MEB next Friday.
- This work represents a first step in the
analysis to be done for special SSS.
