The HSL section provides,
Primary particles production for the CERN Accelerator
Complex.
Supervision of the Hadron Linacs (Linac2, 50
MeV-175 mA p+ and Linac 3, 4.2 MeV/u, 25 uA Pb54+),
and the planning,
coordination and execution of the installation and
maintenance.
Operation and development of the duoplasmatron
for light (hydrogen) ions, ECR for high charge heavy
ions and a RF
driven negative hydrogen source for Linac 4.
Supervision
and support of the low-energy radioactive ion Penning
trap and EBIS charge breeder at REX-ISOLDE.
A contribution
to the HIPPI studies of the CARE framework and R&D
studies for LINAC4 (deputy project management).
The section
provides TSO’s for the accelerators and some associated
buildings
